Patricia Leonard hails from Stone in Staffordshire. When she joined the chorus in 1972 it was known that she had a beautiful mezzo-contralto voice and would be "suitable" for the soubrette parts. On taking the parts of Hebe, Lady Saphir, Peep-Bo, Mad Margaret, and Vittoria, she gained much acclaim (especially on the 1976 American tour) for her portrayals in these parts.
Having been born in Stoke-on-Trent and educated in Stone, she trained with the bass-baritone John Dethick in Sheffield. She then gained wide experience in amateur operatics and singing professionally in oratorio and concerts and giving BBC song recitals. She also sang with Basilica Opera and Gilbert and Sullivan for All.
A winner of the coveted Rose Bowl at the Blackpool Music Festival, and gave singing lessons.
