Amy Augarde was born in London on 7th July 1868 and made her debut in the D'Oyly Carte chorus in 1884. She became Jessie Bond's understudy, played Cousin Hebe in the 1888 revival of "H. M. S. Pinafore" and appeared as Mad Margaret when Miss Bond was taken ill shortly after the opening of "Ruddigore".
On leaving the Savoy, she appeared in "Doris and Dorothy" by Alfred Cellier, and later in "The Little Michus" (with Isabel Jay), "The Chocolate Soldier" (with Charles Workman), and "A Waltz Dream" (with Robert Evett).
She was seldom out of work during a career that lasted over fifty years. One of the last things she appeared in was the revival of "The Rose of Persia" in 1935. She died in Reigate on 1st April 1959.
